OH DEAR FRIENDS, I HOPE YOU DON’T GET INVOLVED IN THIS. IT CAN BE and IS OFTEN CRIPPLING TO ONE’S SPIRITUAL MORALE and FOR CHILDREN BEING BROUGHT UP IN IT. THEY CAN FEEL ISOLATED FROM THEIR PEERS and UNEQIPPED TO HANDLE THE PRESSURES OF THIS WORLD. WHEN THEY START OUT IN LIFE. THIS RELIGION IS PROBLEMATIC IN A NUMBER OF WAYS. I WILL ADDRESS A FEW OF THEM FOR YOUR PROTECTION – ESPECIALLY YOUR KIDS!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
INVESTIGATIVE JUDGEMENT<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 1844, they’ve had a Teaching that Christ is Heaven keeping a Very Close Watch on Everything they do to see if they “Measure Up” for Salvation. This Creates Crippling Fear, Anxiety or Doubts about if they have passed the Heavenly Examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This Doctrine Suggests a Close of Probation. That at some point before Christ\u2019s Return the Fate of Every Person will be Sealed and No further Repentance will be possible. It can create a real Uncertainty about your Salvation Status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Adventist Doctrine also Teaches a Corporate Responsibility for Sin<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That Members have to Guard against Each-Other\u2019s Sin in addition to their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They think that if someone is harboring Unconfessed Sin, it affects the Spiritual Standing of the Entire Congregation. This creates a kind of Paranoia whereby Members may feel pressured to Monitor and Correct Each-Other\u2019s Behavior \u2013 leading to an atmosphere of Suspicion rather than Love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Young People growing up in this Movement feel like they\u2019re under Constant Surveillance. That any mistake or question may be Reported to Church Leaders OR become subject of Church Gossip. It\u2019s pretty damaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This creates a real pressure to maintain a real Facade of Spiritual Perfection which actually Stunts Spiritual Growth and Emotional Maturity. Teenagers growing up in Adventist Homes can often Feel Isolated from their Peers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When they are older, they often mention they felt Unprepared for Life in a Broader World because of Extreme Religious Atmosphere, lacking Culture Skills and Knowledge that their Peers have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
LET’S GET SOME THINGS STRAIGHT<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When Religious Teaching from Any Source creates more BURDEN than BLESSING\u2026.More FEAR than FAITH\u2026. More ANXIETY than ASSURANCE\u2026.it\u2019s Time to Measure that Teaching against the CLEAR WITNESS of SCRIPTURE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Scriptural Emphasis on Salvation is on what Christ has done, not so much what we do. This doesn’t mean Our Choices don’t matter or that Holy Living is Unimportant. Rather it means that our Motivation for Living flows from Gratitude for Salvation already received – not from fear of Salvation that may be Lost; we Obey because We Are Loved, not in order To Be Loved; we pursue Holiness in Response to Grace – Not a Requirement for Grace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
